Portland’s Winter Festivities

The holiday season is upon us, and there’s no shortage of activities to keep you busy in Portland this winter. Whether you’re looking for family fun or events to spice up your weekend getaway, we’ve got you covered with a list of some of the best the city has to offer. And while you’re enjoying the holidays, we want to say thank you for spending your holidays at our boutique Portland hotel with a three-day holiday flash sale. From November 15 to November 18, enjoy 20%, complimentary valet parking, and Wi-Fi for stays between November 15 to February 28, 2017.

Though you may not be home for the holidays, that’s no excuse to pass up on beloved traditions. On November 25, cheer along Portland’s annual Macy’s Holiday Parade, featuring local school marching bands, over 600 costumed characters, and 25 Macy’s floats. Finish the day by stopping at Pioneer Square to watch the Holiday Tree light up with more than 14,000 multi-colored lights, sip on hot chocolate, and sing along to holiday songs performed by Thomas Lauderdale and members of Pink Martini.

If you’re craving more opportunities to sing, the Third Annual Great Figgy Pudding Caroling Competition will be held on December 9th. Carolers of all ages and expertise are welcome to register to bring some holiday cheer to Portland’s streets.

For over 50 years, Pittock Mansion’s Symbols of the Season has been a must-see exhibit. Between November 21 and December 31, various rooms throughout the property will be bedecked with angels, ornaments, evergreens, and more holiday-themed decorations. Local musicians will serenade visitors as they explore the mansion.

Stop by Pioneer Square between November 30 and December 4 to help fend off the winter’s chill with one of the beers and ciders at the Holiday Ale Festival. With brews prepared with the holidays in mind, this celebration has become one of the leading beer tasting events on the West Coast. If you prefer to imbibe in a quieter environment, stop by happy hour or dinner at our rooftop restaurant, Altabira City Tavern, to pair your drink of choice with sweeping views of downtown Portland.

Trust us, we know it can be hard to find time for holiday shopping, let alone find the perfect gift for everyone on your list. Visit Portland’s Christmas Bazaar between November 25-27 and December 2-4 to find unique, locally-made presents. The same Portland-based company has run the largest Christmas Bazaar in America for over 33 years, making it a great tradition and the perfect opportunity to finish your holiday shopping (and no one said you can’t throw in a gift or two for yourself.)
