Hospitality Is The Ingredient That Matters Most

Posted on:

Here at Hotel Eastlund our guests stay for the luxurious amenities, classic style, and modern sophistication, but return for the…well, to be honest, it’s the California-sized beds. California king, or California double queen, that is. You know, the kind of bed you can simply swim across.

Okay, our plush, comfortable, spacious beds are only part of the equation. Guests return for our hospitality—how we make them feel—which is comfortable, connected, and cherished. The feelings we create explain why packages like Hearts In The City (perfect for Valentine’s Day) are so popular: who doesn’t want to feel relaxed, in touch, cared for, and like they’re the most important person in the room?

This kind of hospitality is also the ingredient that matters most to the best restaurants Portland has to offer—many of which happen to be, quite literally, right down the street (or even on our roof, as it were). In fact, it’s safe to say the following restaurants combine impeccable service, incredible ingredients, unique insight, and refined skill to create a remarkable dining experience fit for any occasion. However, what sets these restaurants apart is how they make you feel before, during, and after a meal…which is (you guessed it) comfortable, connected, cherished…and like you’re the most important person in the room (which you are, in case you haven’t heard).

So whether romantic getaway, night out with friends, family gathering, or pure business, make sure these nearby dining delights make the top of your list.

Metropolitan Tavern

Perched atop the rooftop of Hotel Eastlund, Metropolitan Tavern’s sweeping views of the downtown Portland skyline and both sides of the Willamette River make for a gasp-inducing, one-of-a kind dining experience. Yet it’s our hand-crafted cocktails and inventive food menu that deliver remarkable 365 days a year. Think shareable plates, wood-fired, hand-stretched artisan pizzas, elegant entrees, 16 local craft beers on tap, European and Northwest wines, classic and specialty cocktails … truly a taste to suit every fancy. And we are putting a bow on it with our four-course, prix fixe Valentine’s Special — book your table today, they’re going fast. We can’t wait to help you celebrate that special someone!

Ox

We couldn’t be happier that Ox is (literally) one mile up the road. James Beard Award-Winning Chefs Greg Denton and Gabrielle Quiñónez Denton bring the wood-fired grilling tradition of Argentina to visitors of their friendly and comfortable neighborhood restaurant. Guests rave about Ox’s fish, sausages, and mid-rare meats (all cooked amid plenty of fireworks), but Portland food lovers crave the bone-marrow clam chowder, beef tongue with horseradish, and octopus. Oh wait! The tripe too! (Don’t be afraid to try it.)

Kann

How about a 15-minute walk for savory and soulful Haitian cuisine and maybe a unique and exciting cocktail? Chef Gregory Gourdet (a veteran of Top Chef All-Stars LA, where the popup version of Kann won the show’s famed “Restaurant Wars” challenge) invites you to enjoy Caribbean and tropical ingredients, proteins marinated in layers of flavor, and iconic Haitian spices…all fused with local, season Pacific Northwest vegetables, fruit, meat and seafood. Kann’s menu is served family style, offering both larger and smaller plates for an interactive, shared dining experience at the table. We’re excited by unique ingredients like sour orange, Scotch bonnet, and coconut…delicious!

Le Pigeon

A 15-minute walk to bustling East Burnside Street leads to a rotating menu of Northwest-influenced French dishes that earned Chef Gabriel Rucker two James Beard Awards. Le Pigeon restaurant consists of a large open kitchen, communal farmhouse-style tables, and a chef’s counter where guests can check out the action (arguably the best seats in the house). Whether beef-cheek bourguignon, chicken and oxtail with semolina gnocchi, or a burger that’s delectable in its own right, Le Pigeon has something to satisfy any dining desire.

It’s All Within Reach

At least it is when you stay at the newest, most stylish hotel on the Eastside of downtown, the only marquee destination for vacations big and small, or business trips of any flavor, Hotel Eastlund.

Think of us as offering boutique hotel comfort and class with unmistakable Northwest hospitality. (And the best dining around).
