Pullman Wine Bar & Merchant Now Open

Discover the world of wine without ever having to set foot in a vineyard…or leave Hotel Eastlund! Pullman Wine Bar & Merchant offers three experiences in one for wine lovers and novices alike: Guests can take advantage of expert knowledge and shop for wines, relax at the wine bar to taste local and global selections alongside a menu of light bites, or plan one-of-a-kind gatherings in a wine-cave-inspired private dining space.

Serial Portland restaurateur David Machado (Nel Centro, Altabira City Tavern and Citizen Baker) and award-winning wine consultant David Holstrom collaborated on the wine bar after seeing similar concepts in France and Argentina. They endeavored to make wine-tasting approachable, in a comfortable space with a unique selection.

Located on the street level of our boutique hotel, the long, rectangular space designed by Holst Architecture features floor-to-ceiling windows along the NE Holladay side of the shop, looking out on passing Trimet MAX lines (excellent people watching!). Guests first experience the bottle shop when entering, with binned shelves of bottles to enjoy on site or take out. The center of the shop showcases a preservation system and wine bar with stone tasting counter and seating, and furthest in awaits a special wine-cave-inspired private dining room.

  • Roughly 135 wine selections – Half Pacific Northwest-leaning and half eclectic mix from around the globe, from very affordable to rare indulgences. Buy a bottle (or case) to take or enjoy on site.
  • Taste any wine on site – A wine preservation system that uses argon to safely preserve wines means visitors can taste two-, four-, and six-ounce pours, perfect for affordable, non-committal sampling. Enjoy your tasting alongside thoughtful wine-friendly food from Chef Machado.
  • Variety-specific wine flights – Enjoy a taste-tour by grape preference and find fun, lesser known varietal flights such as Chenin Blanc, Cabernet Franc or Roses of Pinot Noir. Ask the experts at the wine station and they’ll help orchestrate your journey.
  • “The Wine Cave” – This 24-seat private dining room is framed by a vaulted ceiling, dramatic lighting, and a stunning dark wood harvest table that runs the length of the room. The “cave” can be enjoyed by wine bar guests when private events are not reserved.

There’s no question Oregon offers many world-class vineyard experiences, but don’t miss this newest wine attraction at Hotel Eastlund, our Portland luxury hotel.
