Rose City Rollers Roller Derby – Start in January
Get your adrenaline pumping! Portland’s all-female flat-track roller derby league, the Rose City Rollers, hold local and national bouts at the historic Oaks Park rink in Southeast Portland from January to June.

Fertile Ground Festival – January 18-28
Founded in 2009, the Fertile Ground Festival is focused on the city’s abundance of emerging art. The 10-day, citywide event showcases play premieres, art installations, events and even in-progress projects, all created by local artists.

Portland Winter Light Festival – February 1-3
Inspired by light festivals around the globe, the Portland Winter Light Festival, a Willamette Light Brigade event, aims to counteract the city’s tendency to hibernate during the winter. The festival brightens up the winter skyline and brings warmth to the outdoors with dazzling displays of light, color, and imagination.

Chinese New Year at Lan Su Chinese Garden – February 16-March 4
The two-week Chinese New Year celebration at Lan Su Chinese Garden includes lion dances, children’s activities, martial arts and historical demonstrations. The family-friendly festivities end beautifully with a traditional lantern-viewing ceremony.
