Sip on Portland Coffee Culture

Posted on:

While our city is certainly known for its hoppy refreshments, there’s a lot more than beer brewing in PDX. We’re shining the spotlight on another beverage our town is famous for – a classic cup of coffee. Portland’s love of coffee has earned its reputation as a pioneer of the third wave coffee movement. What better way to experience our world-class artisanal coffee scene than with a tour of our favorite local spots?

Citizen Baker
Start off your tour right from our hotel in downtown Portland. Our very own café-bakery offers handcrafted pastries, creative sandwiches, soups, and of course, delicious coffee from Portland’s Heart Coffee Roasters. Stop by for your caffeine fix and enjoy a hot breakfast or light lunch. Large windows and comfortable seating make for a great space to hang out all day.

Coava
Some of the highest scoring coffees in the world are roasted at Coava, thanks to the ownership’s eccentric passion for coffee plant varieties and sourcing from unconventional regions. This nationally recognized coffee roaster’s success comes from its farmers, who obsess over soil management to produce the best green coffee prior to roasting. Request the pour-over for a bit of a show with your cup of joe – hot water slowly dripped over coffee grounds held by a metal cone crafted in-house.

Tov
A number of PDX cafes have foreign influences, and Tov is among the most exotic of the city’s offerings. Situated in a colorful double-decker bus and offering up everything from Turkish coffee to mochas with homemade chocolate-wine sauce, this Egyptian-influenced coffee shop captures the famed quirkiness of Portland. If you’d like a dash of “Portland weird” with your java, be sure to visit this popular coffee bus.

Stumptown
Any coffee tour of Portland would not be complete without a visit to this flourishing roasting company. Whether you’re hoping to learn more about coffee or simply want a taste of their renowned cold brew, you’ll find what you seek and much more at Stumptown. Their coffee may be available in stores everywhere, but it’s worthwhile visiting their headquarters for a public tasting when you’re in town.

When you stay at our Portland luxury hotel you’ll be close to the best coffee, food and drinks, and attractions the city has to offer. Whether you’re here for business or pleasure, the team at Hotel Eastlund looks forward to helping you discover this beautiful city and its unique coffee culture.
