Your Perfect Portland Getaway
Maybe we’re biased, but we think the Pacific Northwest is just as stunning in the winter as it is during the summer. While you may not want to venture out of our boutique Portland hotel without a thick coat and an umbrella, there’s something for everyone in the PDX this season, whether you’re looking for an adventure or some time to unwind. Here’s our list of some of our favorite ways to spend the cooler months:
For the person who always posts pictures of their meals on Instagram
Portland is a foodie’s paradise, with innovative restaurants popping up as quickly as the city can support them. Map out your must-try destinations and only brave the cold while bouncing between PDX’s hottest new eateries (and getting plenty of pictures). At Danwie Canting, you’ll find Beijing-style favorites, from pork jiaozi dumplings to lamb rou jia mo burgers. In Portland after the first week of February? The eagerly-anticipated Nomad.PDX is slated to open early in the month and promises a dining experience that isn’t just a meal, but a journey.
For the person who needs a little pampering
You deserve some you-time. Indulge in the ultimate unwinding experience at Zama Massage Therapeutic Spa. Each massage chamber is paneled in Himalayan salt bricks, used by ancient to modern cultures to combat bacteria, inflammation, and stress. Want your spa experience as organic as your produce? Try Blooming Moon Spa, where everything is nontoxic and organic.
For the person who’s a tree-hugger (literally)
Though some may complain of the grey drizzle, any true Portlander knows that winter is the perfect time to don rain jackets and hiking boots and tackle the trails. And in Portland, getting your fill of nature doesn’t even require leaving the city. Hop on a bus or the light rail to get to Hoyt Arboretum and chart your course through 12 miles of hiking trails blossoming with seasonal flora. Public transportation can also take you to Macleay Park, where over 5,100 acres of woodland is open for hikers. Head’s up: the path gets steep towards the top, though the breathtaking views from Pittock Mansion make it worth it.
For the person who prefers to hibernate
We know there’s nothing quite like appreciating winter from a couch in the middle of a Netflix binge. And we think nothing pairs better with a room in our luxury Portland hotel than A Series of Unfortunate Events and room service. Want to swap out TV-watching for people-watching? Finish off your day with a cocktail at Altabira Tavern, our rooftop restaurant, where you’ll find sweeping views, tantalizing fare, and a buzzy atmosphere.
At our downtown Portland hotel, you’ll be close to the best destinations, restaurants, and attractions the city has to offer. Whether you’re here for business or pleasure, we look forward to helping you discover Portland.
