New Year, New PDX Memories

Now that the champagne glasses have been stored and our holiday outfits tucked away, it’s time to start making good on our resolutions. Whether you’re going into 2017 with goals to swap out dessert for fruit once a week, appreciate the little moments, or travel more, the beginning of January is the perfect time to start your year off right. At Hotel Eastlund, a boutique Portland hotel, we’re all about helping you keep your New Year’s resolutions.

While we might not be able to convince you to put down that doughnut, we want to help you make the most of your time in the PDX and Pacific Northwest so your trip is more than just checking off a resolution. Here’s our guide to maximizing your visit and engaging in everything the city has to offer.

Hoping to get in more cultural experiences this year? Head to the Fremont Theater to see Urban Tellers: On the Road Coming Home, presented by Portland Story Theater. Five talented storytellers will share their stories and experiences while you wine, dine, and listen to live jazz. If a cultural event that’s a story in itself is more your style, check out the PDX No Pants Subway/Max Ride. Ditch your jeans and take part in an international annual tradition while donating pants, hats, scarves, and gloves to help the less fortunate.

If you want to broaden your culinary palate, stop by The Toffee Club on January 12th for Curry Night with Leena Ezekiel. The local chef will replace the usual English pub food with an Indian menu to give guests a taste of authentic Indian cuisine. If you’re exhausted after a day of exploring or starting your new workout routine, don’t go further than our elevator. Our Portland rooftop restaurant, Altabira City Tavern, offers your sweeping views of the city as you drink and dine.

Don’t worry, we won’t tell if you indulge — after all, what’s life without chocolate? Oregon’s annual Chocolate Fest runs from January 20 to 22 and is one of the biggest chocolate festivals in the US. From flavored bonbons to Thai chili truffles to chocolate beer, there’s something for every sweet tooth. It’s the perfect opportunity to sample delicacies, learn more about how the vendors support farmers worldwide, and start to stock up for Valentine’s Day.

At our Portland luxury hotel, you’ll be close to attractions, events, and restaurants. Whether you’re here for business or pleasure, we look forward to helping you discover Portland.
