Autumn Apple Picking Near Portland

Fall is officially here, and there’s never been a better time to enjoy the crisp, juicy fall flavors that only Northwest apples bring to the table. Many Portland-area farms invite visitors to pluck produce right off the branches of their apple trees, making an afternoon of apple picking the perfect excursion from our Portland boutique hotel. Take your “pick” from four of Oregon’s best orchards below.

  1. Douglas Farm. Sauvie Island’s Douglas Farm is a Portland staple. For four generations, this family-owned farm has provided PDX foodies with some of the best local fruits and vegetables, plus eight varieties of apples available to pick, from Gravenstein to Golden Delicious.
  2. Draper Girls Country Farm. Located about an hour east of Portland, the Draper Girls Country Farm guarantees fun for the whole family with plenty of apples to pick, tempting cinnamon-sugar dried apples to consume and their famous apple cider to sip.
  3. Kiyokawa Family Orchards. Kiyokawa Family Orchards were established by Mamoru Kiyokawa, a first-generation Japanese American who spent much of World War II in an internment camp. Today, this farm boasts 92 varieties of apples as well as three acres of delicious Asian pears. Delight in award-winning pies, turnovers, local honey, jams and more from the Kiyokawa fruit stand, too!
  4. Mt. View Orchards. Get ready to load up your wagon with fresh, succulent apples from Mt. View Orchards this fall! With more than 80 varieties of apples and pears to choose from, a roster of family-friendly events including Harvest Fest and gorgeous farm-to-table dinners under the stars, Mt. View Orchards is a must-visit.
